Holi Holidays @ Home

Time-12:47
Date-08*03*2011

Just finished a movie- The Girl with the dragon tattoo.......good movie.....Daniel Craig and a weird actress with a lot of piercings on her body.......dnt emphasise much on the title.....the dragon tattoo has hardly anything to do in the movie.....Also watched War Horse in the noon...... more than a good movie- something like an awesome or maybe awesome square movie! And it had to do quite a bit with both horse and war... I wonder if the Bollywood directors, scriptwriters and actors feel even a tiny bit of shame when they watch and compare such marvellous movies with their Desi Boyz and Wanted! Earlier they relied on the actresses getting naked to attract the crowds but i believe now they felt there should a chg in the trends – "league se hatkar movie" so we now had Desi boys doing the same....

If you want to see a light movie and see time travel without any magic or sci-fi shown in the movie have a go at "Midnight in Paris".....n dont think i have taken money for publicizing Hollywood movies in India.....I am a big well wisher of Indian goods and things and sports......like i always buy Indian made Dabur Red toothpaste, HUL made Hamam soap, Action made footwear, etc........Gandhi wd have been so proud of me....if i was born in late 1800s i might have got a mention in History books along with him! Anyways Midnight in Paris.....at mid-night in Paris each day the protagonist enters a cab and somehow reaches the early years of Paris and meets Hemingway, Dali, Picasso,etc......

I have read only one book by Hemingway yet- For Whom The Bell Tolls.....the plot is back in times of Spanish Civil War.....and the protagonist is assigned to blow a bridge......the book is great except it contained lot of philosohy at times not meant for people like me with little knowledge of literature and symbolism! Symbolism and Philosohy reminds me of Paulo Coelho......currently reading Brida .....i have absolutely no idea why he wrote the book and what had he smoked or drank before writing it.....mayb when i complete it i would be impressed ......i dont like to criticise Books or write anything to hurt their feelings .......

Today as i waiting to cross the road i met a rickshaw puller constatntly staring at me......Within 2 seconds i had come up with the reason for eye-contact- we were wearing the same Barca 10 number Messi jersey!! i almost had made my mind to give him a hi-five and shout "Yo Barca" but i guessed he was not much in Barcelona or football.....because then he would never had worn a Messi t-shirt with a 's' missing......thats a sheer insult!! At least i wd never buy a Messi jersey with any spelling mistake that is noticable even if given for 100rs less !!

Important Stuff:

Regarding Kapil Dev's recently given statements, i believe there is a lot of gravity and truth in his words.... except in one- I dont see why he said Tendulkar should have retired immediately after the World Cup....i mean where was the motivation and reason to retire? He was in good form in those days.....also if Tendulkar would have retired each time some Ian Chapell or Kapil Dev recommended so.....would the Little Master have reached to such heights? Besides this,i believe criticization of Sehwag and Dhoni was completely justified.....absolute bias towards Suresh Raina and neglect of Manoj Tiwary.......

Admiration for fight the Lankans put before the Aussies in the VB series.....chasing 287, almost chasing 310+, and a successful chase in the second final !! They deserved to win the series as said by Ravi Shastri ! Indian women Kabaddi team deserves a mention for becoming the World Champions! And so does Sandeep Singh for his recent excellent performance in qualifier for Olympics Hockey.

The Google Incident

Hi.... my friends and lovers (if any).... here i am ...back at home in Ranchi.....after a most uninteresting journey by train.....nothing worth mentioning .....unless u r interested in knowing that the railways are campaigning for saving paper....and encouraging us to carry digital tickets in mobiles as pdf or sms....i sincerely obliged...

Besides the rail journey even the midsems were unhappening...i mean i did not miss any 40% midsem exam of any course....Back at home today saw the UP poll results .....glad on seeing the elephant woman uprooted from her throne......was not any good.....raising gigantic elephant statues and making expensive parks can hardly be considered synonymns for growth.....growth means growth of the people and of the state .....not growth of the party.....besides every political, physical, chemical and biological happening in India stimulated only one response from Mayawati- rubbish Dalit talk! Also the new successor of UP- Akhilesh Yadav looks decent to me....people would be expecting a Bihar like change from him.....How things have changed.....What image did Bihar evoke in times of Laloo yadav and Now Bihar is seen as a symbol of change, of growth, of success!!

Speaking of Bihar it reminds me of another incident-more than 6 months back.....i refer it to as The Google Incident. A friend of mine pinged me on Gtalk and sent me a link.....inviting me to watch a 'hot' video......it almost made me smile,we have more than hot videos available on hard disks and that too in HD prints......so i would hardly take pain to open his link for watching any crap.....He insisted that the video had spread like fire among my friends and i would not believe who was in it!! Curiosity got better of me , the link directed me to my gmail account and was asked to log in....i didnt give any thought  and logged in my gmail account.....to find nothing but my read mails....soon i got a ping back.....saying ur account is mankey365@gmail,com and passwd was kungpanda2.....if u want ur new passwd u r advised not to log out of ur gtalk and follow the given instructions.....!! and then he gave me a phone number asking me for a Rs 200 recharge within two hours if i wanted to see my account!

Now i did not exactly consider my gmail account as my girlfriend or wife or sister....in fact not any relative as far as i know...but i loved my gmail account.....i wd never have deserted my gmail or cheated on it ......but only as long as i did not have to spend a single penny on it! I called my roomie to my rescue.....now my roomie Anurag KS did play a role in the whole rescue operation but i wd hv been much more proud of him if he had shown some style in the rescue like in Hollywood flicks !! My roomie threw some lines at him on the gtalk....something like if he realized what he was doing and could go to jail and he was messing with wrong people.....i will hardly consider ever using such threats....they only reveal ur weakness and desperation .....instead i would love to annoy him saying something like he must raise his standards and not beg for Rs 200 from people like me to buy his bread.....not that these lines would do any good.......!!

Meanwhile my gtalk refreshed and i was signed out ....the guy had the nerves of calling me and asked me why was the recharge not done yet.....I should have said something funny mayb like "wait a sec dude ...Ambani is on the other line waiting for my order to recharge ur number"......he had already removed my security question......still somehow i reset my passwd using my alternative email id.....I was going to remove his phone number he had fed .....when he pinged me to see if i really had logged into my account back !! He wrote '?'.... i replied ':)'......it would have been greater pleasure writing "Nobody gets the better of Sherlock Mayank Holmes" but what a pity, it did not strike me then and before i could write anything on the chat he rechanged my passwd again using his fed phone no...... And then so did I again using my alternative mail id ! The "El Classico" of password changing continued for a brief time before my roomie came with a  David Villa killer instinct and shut the game with a winning goal in an awesome 1 minute game—removing his phone number and   other data before he could do anythg !! If i was wearing a Barca t shirt then i would have removed it and waved it like we had won the La Liga!  My roomie did not even ask for a treat!!

Now if you were Sherlock Holmes like me a question wd have crossed ur mind......why did i write earlier Bihar reminded me of this incident.....it so happened that after everything ended i spent quite a time on securing my gmail and fb accounts .....doing so i found ip addresses of some place of recent login-- the ip is 117.197.76.114 and on doing some googling it shows as Bihar- Bailey Road- the coordinates are 25.6N 85.1167E .......no idea if its correct or not......if any of my readers know sci fi stuff or have any news related to cyber complaints pls do tell me !!

CounterStrike Edition

6th February, 00:43

Hi everyone, Here i am again writing once again my and team India's history and geography; Our beloved team India has finally tasted some blood in the second T20 match. Though i am not much of a supporter of this short format of cricket, i must say Indians looked a brilliant field in the t20.

This time i want to show my patriotism and loyalty and give free publicity to the I league football going in  our nation, about which you must be hardly aware of.....I am surprised why cant we come up with good football infrastructure in our country? I so much want to see Indian players in the world's most popular sports and us shouting cool Indian names instead of Rooney or Higuain or Ronaldo......i did not mention Messi (he is special to me n always supported!!) Here is the link to I League's wiki page ! I believe the All India Football Federation would appreciate this, if at all they believe in the country's future in this game. Not many are in this world who would do free publicity and that too for Indian Football!

Elections have arrived in my college.....they had never been a great time for me in the first two years. People pounding fists on my door, disrupting my sleep and then handing long manifestos and showing their confident faces which cleverly hides their "i am doing this crap only for my resume" expression! But this year is different! The table has clearly turned about.....i am doing the fist pounding for my IIT K bhai Abhay Jain aka SuperMama and i believe our manifestos are one of the longest i have ever seen.....Its not much fun though - in the morning (our morning means 12 noon) we are smartly standing and confidently giving "I know what i am doing" look.....by the half day our shoulders are like unwatered plants drooping sadly....and our faces giving  "What really are we doing with our lives?" looks!! The candidates have been strictly asked to refrain from any online campaigning.........I am so much tempted to see what happens if i tag some people from the Election Commission in this blog? Will they be offended and fine us? Will they think this as an inappropriate action by candidate's campaigning team? Or will they be pleased by my free election proganda of IIT Kanpur?

Finally i have watched Agneepath.......Admirable! I have made some new guidelines for Bollywood movies.....to watch them or not? Any movie with no overacting and no Salman Khan's brother with some tolerably bad storyline is a watchable Bollywood for me! The only thing annoying i found in the movie was that Sanjay Dutt was not thrashed and stabbed enough before being hanged......after i had watched the movie on my lappy a few friends did make me regret of the fact that i missed watching Chikni Chameli on a big cinema screen!

I cant afford to not write about our Counter Strike adventures these days.....I must tell you if you play CS for the first time and start enjoying it, you would be tempted to throw grenade at any group of people crowding around your room ( i mean in the real world) or taking out a fellow mate in a far lobby (only his head visible ) with a sniper rifle.....or even trying to enter a solitary washroom cautiously, fearing some1 with an AK-47 might be taking his position there!  After you have dealt with these a few days or weeks your mind would return to normal and you would feel like you are not afraid of anyone in this world !

At times you might be deceived by the idea that you have become a very expert player and you challenge some1 unknown to you.......you realize your mistake after the first 10 games when you have failed to killed your opponent even once, when he was playing with his pistol against your superzoom magnum sniper rifle!......At the end of an hour or so.....you end up at the canteen with your fellow CS mates with brave smiles and saying "sala kitna uchal uchal k head shot deta hai".........If you want to meet such people you can  meet my wingies Utpal Raman Sharma codenamed Damon, Harshit Gangwar aka Avenger,  Gandaya codenamed Kill them All and Rohan Jhingar aka Drunk Barney

Over and out!

EPIC

Sunday the 29th

Things going smoothly right now......2012 does not seem to bringing much disaster yet except of course to the Indian Cricket team...no further comments on their devastation...

Watched some great matches of the Australian Open.....Rafael Nadal vs Roger Federer , an even better Novak Djokovik vs Andy Murray which almost stretched to 5 hours and the ultimate final between Nadal and Novak whick lasted as long as 5 hrs 53 mins! The words of Djokovik really touched me that "unfortunately there could not be two winners".....if you had seen the game you would know how true it was.....an unbelievable show of determination by both the players! You could hardly say Nadal less deserved the Grand Slam after presenting unbelievable backhands in rallies upto 31 shots !! I think Djokovik had some advantage .....he had an ultimate gf backing up! On looking at her innocent and serene face i wonder how could anyone not support her and Djokovik. Anyways it ws an EPIC match wid a EPIC gf

Tech fest of our college going right now these days.....Techkriti.... when i was in the first year they made it look so big by mentioning awesome scientist names or big budgets and sponsoring companies.... after my first year experience i discovered the best way to enjoy Techkriti- Go home and have a reunion wid ur families and friends!!.... To hell with lectures of Nobel prize winners- i remember i was trying to convince my friends to leave the lecture after the  first 10 minutes but we decided against it in courtesy of the Scientist who apparently had no better past times in his childhood than playing with conductors and thermodynamics documentaries!

Still Techkriti holds some great excitement for my wingie Anshul Porwal aka BBK because he has some intel that there is a stall of Malai Makhan in the foodstall region....that does sound like something i would be looking forward to... I did go to a lecture by RBI's executive director Deepak Mohanty.....it was nt as bad as i had thought though it did have lots of "direct foreign investments" and  "global capital flow" and other demoralizing words....

A list of conversations far more interesting includes a chat with a net friend Sachan who likes  speaking about her pains buried deep in her heart caused by an aversion to Bengalis (Note: Nothing to do with me)....and an aversion to their love for fish and their voluptuous built up (again - not my opinion)....I must sympathise with her not because i feel the same hatred....jus because i know the disgust at the smell and sight of non-veg food before you when you are a staunch vegetarian!  Though i am also bit surprised by the amount of things she hates- including Nadal (thats absurd !!), Hindi new songs(again absurd) and Hindi movies (not so absurd, judging by the crap they are filled with)!!
I cant approve of this hatred especially when my neighbourhood and neighbouring state is filled with so many of them....!

Gave my RBI intern exam today.....not expecting any achievment... had free dinner at Anshul Porwal the BBK's house.....it included an awesome pastry(free and eggless).....speaking of pastry i must mention the pastries served at the Republic Day in our mess are not upto the mark and need an upgradation in quality.....though i had to take the responsibility of my roomie Anurag K Singh aka the Twilight lover (@$%#@#$@#) and finish his portion of breakfast too in his absence....i think of mentioning this in any interview as a selfless example of sincerity, humanity, good citizenship, responsible and sensitive to wishes of my co-workers and lots of other qualities we mention in resumes....

People who make attendance compulsary in their courses are the most confidence lacking ones.....they dont believe their lectures in open and closed sets and n dimensional spaces n daily changing definitions of continuity can attract students in their class....I believe this is not read by TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN and besides we live in democratic world where we are free to speak out our views!

2012

Time:1622
Date: 01*01*2012

New year! new beggining! new semester! new photocopy of others' notes!

The weather is so windy and rainy here that it looks like we are really heading towards the end of the world.
Returned to IIT campus on the 30th of December. I must make you aware of the fact that the year 2012 has been proclaimed as the National Mathematical year in India and December 22 as National mathematics Day in India.

31st December no longer remains exciting for me in college as it used to be when i was in school. In schooldays not just the 31st,but the whole last week excited me because they showed the best movies of the year and before on the television! Other than the gazar ka halwa being served in the mess anything else could hardly be called interesting on the first of January. In fact during my holidays my visit to Nokia service center was far much more better even when i had been kept waiting for over an hour. Actually they were showing the live Boxing match Ind-Aus test match and India was almost on the verge of gaining an upper hand over Aussies.
Did you know The BSNL people are one of the laziest people in the world??No this is not a funfact, but sure a fact i can testify. I have complained to several officials regarding the death of my beloved telephone on 1st of December but no attempts are being made by the telephone people to give it a chance of rebirth.

When i think about solution to any one problem of our country say poverty i realize it is because the people are illiterate and fooled by the corrupt people and also due to large population of India. Now if we want to eradicate illiteracy we need our education policy to be implemented properly and that can be only by reducing corruption. And large amount of corruption results from people being poor. All the problems illiteracy, poverty, corruption, etc seem to be interconnected and gound round and round in loops! I believe the only solution to this country's problems is me rising to a dictatorship.

At least one thing should be immediately implemented and that is a Rupees ten fine on any1 who tries to spit in the public buildings or public means of transport or else soon India will become a red country! I don't think Gandhigiri should be implemented on spitters like in Lage Raho Munna Bhai.In fact stern action should be taken and the fine decided should not be a big amount because it would prompt the policemen to collect half of the money as bribes and also the fine should be not be so less that people dont give a damn about the fine! You must be wondering why i am trying to solve a random problem of country. The thing is that i am trying to save all my ideas which have ever occured to me, how weird they might be. I think i must discuss these ideas with my wingie Anshul Porwal the budhao aka BBK even though he does have a habit of getting emotional withe national problems!

When i had read somewhere in childhood about growing Chinese influence and Indo-Chinese war and how China had occupied some of our portion in the North, i had a plan to enter China via Mongolia or Russia and surprise them and create chaos and strike fear in their heart. My tution sir did not look convinced with my plan and believed i would be doing far better service to the nation by doing my arithmetic problems rather than plotting against the Chinese.I would be gradually revealing other of my plans in my future blogs.

Had a pretty interesting first day of new semester.....one of the new Topology instructor kept walking so fast to and fro in the class while speaking that it prompted the person sitting beside me to say that we can be soon expecting the Doppler effect in her class. I had made a bet with my conscience that i wont look at the time even once in any of the class....i almost won but in the last 10 minutes of the final lecture my will power broke and i lost!

Want to watch a great movie where a person gets stranded on an island for many years and to keep himself from going insane out of loneliness he makes a volleyball his friend?Cast Away starring tom Hanks. He is like the Aamir Khan of Hollywood. People generally prefer to say the other way round (i.e Tom Hanks of India) like Manchester of India or Mecca of football....we dont say Ranchi of France or anything 'Indian' of anything 'foreign '!! Also watched Ladies vs Ricky Bahl with agood amount of use of Forward button. My roomie says its copied from a Hollywood flick Spread. Hardly matters....we all have lost expectations from Hindi movies....esp after we get used to the English ones after coming to college !

Christmas! Holidays!

Time-19:22
Date-24*12*2010

Its Christmas eve! Even though i dont actually celebrate still i like Christmas pretty well..i am not sure why..i think it might be because in my schooldays we used to get a small cake for Christmas as ours ws a missionary school....and cakes symbolise everything Goooooood! Besides "Christmas" sounds so good and strong on speaking!

Had a short visit to my Nani.... in Hazaribagh.....a place truly symbolising Jharkhand....., cows doing G.D on the main road and the only response to ur continuous honking of vehicles before them is a "Moo!" as if saying "Chill, u Crazy dude", majority of the people listening to "Appex" iPod or wearing some "Addas" apparel. Once i had gone to a shop asking for a "ball" and the shopkeeper asked me "khelne wala" ya "jalane wala ball"? I was not surprised.
I survived inspite of my small cousin sister making me sit and watch Sinchan and Doremon on a daily basis, n my aunt n Nani making me watch Saathiya and a soap in which there was a Mother in law whose eyes were always so wide open like on a Black Ops mission and she kept asking everyone trivial questions like "ruko, bahurani kaha ja rhi hai,.......wha kya kaam hai......". I was surprised no1 opened her head with a shotgun but i guess my Nani wont be pleased if they started taking out shotguns and sniper rifles in the TV soaps!

Went to a picnic with family and some people from my apartment.Jonha Falls.  I wish Jharkhand Govt would show some gratefulness to me in the future for this free promotion of Jharkhand tourism. Grand place, Awesome climate, Picturesque scenery. If ever you are in Jharkhand and want to have a tour of some awesome scenic place please do contact me. I like the scenic places much more than the shining clean malls with overpriced things and stars made all over the place referring to "Terms and conditions applied".
Here is a fun fact. Can you tell which is the 34th highest waterfalls of India?  Hundru Falls in Jharkhand. and i can boast i have been there.

Did i tell about the awesome train journey from Kanpur Central to Ranchi Junction on 10th of December,2011? Two things were of notably interest. I did not have a confirmed birth and nor did my friend Pranav aka the Mota aka Guddu Halwai. So i decided to take a nap on a vacant topmost berth till someone interrupts me. Now it happens that no one really interrupted me during the entire journey except the TT and a romantic conversation going on the berth opposite to me. I wondered if someone with the berth had not turned up there and even if so why did the TT did not assign the seat to some1 else with a waiting ticket. The mystery was solved later by Pranav who clarified that the berth belonged the boy and the girl who were sleeping on the birth opposite to me lost in their conversation and they must have realised that they did not need another berth!! Must i say with tears in my eyes that those who are in true love are the most selfless men and May God help them to overcome the goons who will be sent by the boy's father in near future to separate them. The second interesting thing in the journey was a group of most learned individuals in the coup next to us. Their interesting conversation immediately prompted me to try to record their talk in my mobile but could not have much success. Looks like Samsung needs to improve their sound recording facility in the phones. As far as i can recall they talked about almost every "need to be urgently discussed" topic of the world and even threw light on how micro organisms would lead to the end of the world in 2012 and how all Russia and USA were fooled by some company to engage in a battle for oil and all the ammunition were exhausted and they realized about their stupidity and took to peace!! Clearly till then i had never heard of such a battle and also not knew that USA's ammunition exhausted at any point of history .With so many learned scholars in every nook and corner of the India how do we still fail to succeed?

Read The Prisoner of Birth by Archer and Tell Me Your Dreams  by Sidney Sheldon. The first one is too good! It has compelled me into reading Kane and Abel which is going quite interestingly currently.
Clearly Archer likes to write about stock market and banking, going to jail, extraordinary talent in Mathematics and good friendship in his books while Sidney Sheldon has more variety of topics including crime, supers-scifi, criminals on a run, Multiple Personality Disorder, etc. I watched the end of Toonpur ka superhero which looked clearly to have copied the fight sequences of Neo Anderson of The Matrix. Revised the movie Sholay on Zee Cinema. The theme music of the movie is better than what people remember .Perhaps a Hindi  analogy to the music of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly which is absolutely terrific.

Over and Out.

Hello World

Hello world ! Semester break  going on. I had made my mind to make the best use of holidays and learn some programming. i did learn for two days and after ten days ....today....all i remember is hello world !

Reading few novels these days. Finished Not a Penny more Not a Penny Less by Archer in a day. Gud book..must i say...the plot is fast and entertaining....It was followed by Sidney Sheldon's The Dooomsday Conspiracy- i dont think its anywhere near upto the mark like other of his works....the book has aroused a question in my mind-Why all the electric and battery operated appliances have to fail whenever the aliens or UFOs are sighted ?? And why do all the UFOs have to be circular disc like??-they should be more like the scientifically designed rockets and planes-streamlined!! A fact from the book i loved was a palindrome Napolean Bonaparte made - "able i was ere saw i elba" . Its the best palindrome i have come across till yet!! Have started a new one-Tell me your dreams by Sidney Sheldon.

Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol is out and in a few days would be Don-2. Some people cursed and mocked Anil Kapoor's three minute role in MI-4.....I think it was a gud decision for Anil Kapoor...... his wiki page can contain the phrase "co-starred Tom Cruise in Hollywood flick-MI.....". I liked the Amitabh version Don. The red diary concept, the Khaike paan Banaras song, the serious Amitabh look, the classic old movie revolver sound and a happy ending all appealed to me. SRK's Don appears to me like a The Good The Bad The Ugly in which the Good and The Ugly die while The Bad emerges as the survivor. Before we know they would be making movies of Batman in which the Joker kills the Batsman in the end and the director feels he has made a movie with something new in it giving us a twistful sting!! I guess out of all the movies coming next year i would be most eager for The Hobbit. There cant be ever a movie like the LOTR!

Had registered for a RBI exam which intended to recruit interns from all over the country....such high was the enthusiasm that i downloaded the given reading material all over the holidays.... even read 2 of the pdfs.....i did not know RBI bothered about what fertlizers farmers used for millets and groundnuts in our country or what strategies some handloom boards of India make.Frankly speaking i did not know handloom boards existed!! Besides the words "growth outlook",fiscal consolidation", "monetary transmission policy" really depressed me so i gave up.Reading novels is much more fun!

About 12 days ago i attended my friend Shashank Jatav aka The Dirty Mind aka Dolu's sister marriage in Lucknow.....officially speaking i never recall being invited for the event.....i wonder if there was an argument between us who were to complain- me asking why on earth was i never invited or him saying why did i come uninvited !! The return journey to Kanpur involved me failing to produce a ticket confronting a TT who fined us heavily.....'us' because Harshit Gangwar the Laddu remained a faithful friend in getting caught along with me unlike my 4 other bastard ticketless friends who quietly walked in luck. The only thing we did to contend myself was to take a proper receipt for the full fine so the money went to the railways and not in TT's pocket. i learnt two things- firstly, paying a smaller price of bribe which goes for the TT's so called Snacks' fund instead of the proper fine wont make me less respectable citizen of our democratic secular republic of India. Secondly, next time buy the fuckin ticket !

Lookin forward to the Boxing Day test match bw India and Aussies in Aussies.....again the media people making the giant mistake of focussing on Sachin's 100th ton.... its obviously pressing him.....even for the God the expectations of millions of people can be distracting. I am clueless why they included Dinda as the fast bowler in Ishant's absence. They tried Varun Aaron earlier who performed well......then how on the earth Ashok Dinda emerges in? BCCI has always been a land of mysteries.....
